As Calligaris celebrates their 95th anniversary this year, we have been inspired to take a look back at their wonderful history. Starting out with just one chair in 1923, the Italian brand has grown into a worldwide company, providing beautiful design and exceptional quality over for nearly a century. It is no surprise that over the years they have perfected their craft, becoming renowned in the world of furniture.
The Hyper Dining table has been in Calligaris’ line up for 17 years, and it still remains one of our favourites of all of Calligaris’ dining tables.
A simple, yet ingenious design, the Hyper table features extending leaves that are housed underneath either end of the tempered glass top. The mechanism is simple – pull the extension out toward yourself, lift it up, and push back in to line up with the top. In a few simple movements, this 6 person table easily converts to seat 10.
This table, however, does not sacrifice form for function. Its solid, angular wood base creates a contrast with the light, airy glass table top. The chrome accents connecting the frame to the top are a subtle detail that enhances the simplicity of the table. Due to it’s streamlined, uncomplicated design, the Hyper lends itself to many different interior spaces. It’s a contemporary table that is able to enhance both transitional and modern spaces, while providing a practical and functional design.
With its timeless design and practicality, it’s no wonder why the Hyper table has been a client favourite for all these years, and surely will continue to be for many years to come.
